I have to say I really dig this band’s sound. The heavy farfisa organ is reminiscent of the doors Ray Manzarek and her raw vocals really grab me in the solar plexus. It is good to see a local band make it big and I am going to be hunting for more material by the enigmatic and multifaceted band.

The Federal Recovery Act is providing stimulus funding for homeless school children. The State Department of Arizona says that 25,000 of their students are homeless and this year the money has been doubled to aid in the effort to provide education. Statewide that adds up to an extra 1.6 million dollars.
Ron Neil, Superindentant of Sequoia school systems says “We are grateful for that $28,000.00 dollars but the truth is, we spend that on gas just getting the kid to school”.
Federal stimulus money is a one time shot and it doesn’t solve the largest problem, that these children are homeless. Neil says, “do we want to pay for them now, or do we want to pay for them when they have conflict with the law?”

THE LOVE ME NOTS formed in the hot Phoenix summer of 2006, originally as a side project for its members other bands. The band was heavily influenced by bands like The Animals, The Ventures, The Sonics, The Gun Club, The Dead Kennedys, The Seeds, The Detroit Cobras, April March and The White Stripes, as well as 60s RandB. The Love Me Nots dubbed their sound spy-surf-fuzz-gogo and posted a scratchy rehearsal recording on Myspace.com in June of 2006. Within weeks the tracks were being aired on radio stations in England
I really enjoyed the grungy retro surf sound of the heavy farfisa organ, intermittent blues guitar licks and the sultry delivery of the lead singer. Give me more of this band!
